As part of my duties as ombudsperson of ARRR!!! (Brown’s only pirate a-cappella group), I do weekly readings to start and close out the rehearsals. This is a compendium of my readings, each week, for my own reference.
- 09/19: The story about maps, excerpted from p. 169 of Sylvie and Bruno Concluded by Lewis Carroll
- 09/26: A Story About ‘Magic’
- 10/03: The Walrus and the Carpenter by Lewis Carroll
- 10/10: Death and Homeward, excerpted from Aspects by John M. Ford / The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost
- 10/17: Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold, excerpted from The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
- 10/24: The Feline Photograph by Austin Flory / For sale: baby shoes, never worn.
- 10/31: (guest reading) Tableau at Twilight by Ogden Nash / O Where Are You Going? by W.H. Auden
- 11/07: (no rehearsal)
- 11/14: The Tyger (with apologies to William Blake) by Robin Johnson / Babies are born worshipping unknown gods.
The idea of using my website (which is really just a collection of markdown files) as a way to take notes is stolen/borrowed from my friend Chloe, who did it first. I may do this much more going forward, interspersed with the higher-effort-and-more-time-consuming regular posts.
